How many nights do you need for a Maumere to Alor liveaboard?

Seven nights is the sweet spot: two days in Maumere Bay, two along Adonara, Solor and Lembata, and three in the Pantar Strait and Kalabahi Bay. Typical itineraries run 7–10 nights, and grand crossings that start in Komodo National Park run 12–16 nights.

When is the best time for an Alor liveaboard?

May to November is the sailing season, with the inter-monsoon windows of April–May and October–November the calmest for open-water crossings. The Flores Sea as a whole is at its most settled from April to October; most east-route boats pause during the December–March wet season.

Can you sail the route in reverse, from Alor to Maumere?

Yes — the westbound version boards in Kalabahi and disembarks in Maumere, diving the same sites in reverse order. It suits travelers who reach Alor via Kupang first, or who want to end the trip on Flores and continue overland across the island.

Is there a Komodo to Alor liveaboard?

Yes. Grand crossings of 12–16 nights begin inside Komodo National Park, sail Flores' north coast to Maumere and then continue east through the Pantar Strait to Alor. The Komodo National Park entry ticket of IDR 650.000 per person (dated ticket) applies for the park days.

How do I get to Maumere, and home from Alor?

Fly into Maumere's Frans Xavier Seda Airport (MOF) from Bali or Jakarta, usually with a hop via Labuan Bajo or Kupang. Homebound, a private transfer takes you from Kalabahi Harbour to Mali Airport (ARD) for the Kupang connection — typically one flight per day, so we build a comfortable buffer into the plan.

Is the Maumere to Alor route suitable for snorkelers or non-divers?

Partly. The sheltered bays — Beangabang and much of Kalabahi Bay — snorkel beautifully, and the village and whale-watching days need no certification. The current-swept signature sites are for experienced divers, so dedicated non-divers are usually happier on our Komodo-area cruises, and we will say so honestly when planning.
